From permit plan to planted landscape.
DEC & other agency planting plans • Native buffers, mitigation & restoration
Your planting plan should become a living landscape—not another item left on the project checklist. White Oak Native Plants helps property owners move from agency planting requirements to plant sourcing and installation, with attention to the approved plan and the conditions on the ground.
Talk with us about your permit planting project
Planting with a purpose
A permit or project approval may include native buffers, replacement trees, restoration areas, or mitigation plantings. These areas can help protect wetland edges, restore disturbed vegetation, and create habitat while meeting the objectives of the project’s planting plan.
We work on planting associated with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) approvals and other agency projects, including local Town Trustees and conservation boards. Each project is reviewed around its own documents, site conditions, and scope of work.
Need a planting plan—or ready to install one?
Planning and agency coordination
If your project needs a planting plan prepared or revised for agency review, we can coordinate that work with Cole Environmental Services. The plan can address the proposed planting area, appropriate native species, plant sizes, quantities, spacing, and establishment care as required for the project.
Agency review and permit coordination are handled within the environmental consulting scope. White Oak’s focus is sourcing and coordinating installation of the planting work.
Installation of an approved plan
Already have an approved planting plan? We review the plant schedule, layout, and relevant planting conditions before ordering. We then source the specified plants and coordinate installation around the approved work area and the project schedule.
When a specified plant is unavailable, we flag the issue before making a substitution. Proposed changes are coordinated with the project team and agency where approval is needed.
Projects we help bring to life
- Native wetland buffers: Trees, shrubs, grasses, and perennials within designated planting areas.
- Mitigation and restoration plantings: Native vegetation for disturbed or restored areas.
- Replacement trees and shrubs: Sourcing and installation around the approved plant schedule.
- Coastal and bluff plantings: Plant material suited to the project’s exposure and approved plan.
- Invasive removal and replanting: Coordinate invasive plant management when it is part of the restoration scope.
A practical path to installation
1. Review the documents
Send the latest planting plan, plant schedule, permit or approval, and any relevant planting conditions. We confirm the intended work area and discuss access, timing, and site preparation.
2. Source the plants
We check availability and coordinate the required species, sizes, and quantities. Any availability concerns are addressed before the order moves forward.
3. Coordinate installation
The planting work is organized around the approved layout, site readiness, and project team. Existing native vegetation and areas outside the work limits should be protected.
4. Plan for establishment
We discuss watering, invasive growth, replacement needs, and any maintenance period identified in the project documents. If completion photographs or other planting records are requested, we can coordinate those within the agreed scope.
Care continues after planting
Installation is the beginning of establishment. A newly planted buffer needs attention while roots develop, and project conditions may call for continued maintenance or replacement of plants that fail. The project team should track any agency inspection or completion requirements; installation alone does not establish agency sign-off.
Send us your planting plan
Tell us the property location, reviewing agency, approval status, and your target installation timing. Having the plan and plant schedule ready helps us assess the scope and prepare a proposal.
